About the Rebel Sport return policy
Rebel Sport accepts the return of goods under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) in the following cases:
- the product has a minor or major fault
- doesn’t work as described
- different from what has been shown to you
In all these cases Rebel Sport is required by the ACL to accept returns and offer you a refund, exchange, or repair:
- In case of a major failure, the ACL allows the customer to choose between a full refund, a replacement product, or a repair.
- In case of a minor failure, Rebel Sport will decide how to handle the problem. Most likely they will try to repair the product or exchange it.
Does Rebel Sport offer a “change of mind return”?
Rebel Sport is not very clear about “change of mind returns”. In their return policy they say they are not required to accept returns if you change your mind (which is definitely true), however, their store managers might still accept such returns.
So if you are not satisfied with a product, just walk into your local Rebel Sport store and see if they accept a return.
The product is surely not eligible for a change of mind return unless:
- it is in its original, re-saleable condition
- you can provide a proof of purchase (receipt, tax invoice, bank statement)
If Rebel Sport accepts your change of mind return, you are most likely to get a gift card that you can use for your next purchase.
What products cannot be returned?
Certain products – due to hygiene or other reasons – are not accepted for change of mind returns:
- underwear, swimsuits
- gift cards, vouchers
- tailor-made, customized products
How to return a product?
Depending on the type of the product, you have the following options:
- products under 20kg can be returned both in-store or via mail
- to return products over 20kg you need to contact Rebel Sport to arrange a courier pickup
- Online Only products should be returned by mail
In any case, if you want to return a product, you should first contact customer support and they will help you with the entire process.
What happens after you return an item?
This depends on whether you are returning a faulty product under the ACL or want a “change of mind return”.
“Change of mind” returns
In case of change of mind returns, you should walk into the nearest Rebel Sport store and they will let you know if they accept your return and offer you an exchange or a gift card.
Returns under the ACL
Returning a faulty product under the ACL will be sent for assessment. Once this is done (might take up to two weeks) Rebel Sport will contact you and let you know how to proceed.
As described above, in case of a major failure you can choose how you want to be compensated. In case of minor failure, Rebel Sport will decide how to handle the problem.
If the assessment finds the product became faulty because of neglect or misuse, you are not entitled to any kind of compensation.
What warranty does Rebel Sport offer?
All products must comply with the Warranties and Consumer guarantees parts of the ACL. On top of that, certain products might come with a manufacturer’s warranty.
Most companies offer some sort of an extended warranty for an extra fee. We have found no indication of such service on the Rebel Sport website. You might want to ask customer support if they have such an offer.
How long is the warranty period?
- Manufacturer warranty: The manufacturer warranty depends on the product.
- Warranty under the ACL: The law doesn’t explicitly say how long the warranty on a certain product must be. This usually depends on the price, type of product, and possibly some other factors.
As you can see, the exact warranty period varies and you should ask a store employee or customer support for more about the warranty of the product you want to buy.
Rebel Sport refund policy
Rebel Sport needs to issue a full refund if a product has a major failure and you decline both a repair and a replacement product.
However, in case of a minor failure, they are unlikely to give you a refund, they will offer either an exchange or a repair.
If they accept a product as a “change of mind” return, they might or might not offer you a refund. Chances are you’ll get a gift card to use for your next purchase.
How does Rebel Sport issue a refund?
Like basically all other stores, Rebel Sport issues a refund to your original payment method.
If you paid with a credit card, make sure to bring it with you to the store.
Depending on the method of payment you used to pay, processing the refund might take a day or more.
Rebel Sport exchange policy
The same applies to exchanges as refunds. In case of major problems, or faulty products you can ask for a replacement.
However, minor problems do not entitle you to exchange, Rebel Sport might choose to repair the product in such cases.
Rebel Sport cannot offer exchanges for products returned by mail. You need to go to their nearest store to get an exchange.
